Just a few quick prayer requests... lots of exciting things going on and we want you to be a part of it! First- a huge praise! We've been looking for a location to hold our English Cafe (basically an English Club for students who want to improve their speaking skills). We were hoping to find a Cafe that would allow us to rent a room or banquet hall or something for a reasonable cost. We made phone calls and JB just walked around downtown and checked places out... we were getting pretty discouraged, but then God opened a door! Yesterday JB walked into a local cafe and sure enough they had a room you can 'rent'. Only, you don't 'rent' it- it's free- you just have to give them business... only we were only looking for coffee and tea during our meetings. So, we agreed to 'buy' a certain amount of coffee/tea/desserts in exchange for the use of the room. It is perfect! Exactly what we were imagining! It's so cool when God gives you a dream and you start to see it come to fruition. Please pray for the owner of the cafe- that he will be favorable towards us and continue to let us use the facility- and that it will be available on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. He wasn't too sure about allowing us to use the room when he realized that we were 'religious'- though we assured him that the focus of this group is speaking English and that we would be holding church services there or anything.
Also... on Tuesday Carolina and I spoke at a teachers training seminar at the local Pedigogical College. We were also able to meet and share tea with the head of the languages dept there. We called her yesterday to see if she knew of any students who would be interested in being a nanny. We havent' had any luck finding someone to watch the boys on a regular basis while I study. But, Mariana, the head of the languages dept- gave us a name of a 3rd year student- Alyona. She is coming over Monday afternoon to meet the boys and interview. As far as we know she is not a believer. Please pray for wisdom to know if this is who should be staying with our boys- and that all the details of times for her to work and everything will work out.
There's lots of other fun stuff going on- but I'll write more about that later! This has been an incredibly busy, but yet very productive week. We did all our shopping on Monday for the month and Monday and Tuesday I cooked all our meals for the month and froze them. I know it sounds nuts...but if you know how much time this will save me in the end you wouldn't call me nuts... We you can't buy canned soups for casseroles or stuffing mix or even canned spaghetti sauce- it's worth it to make big batches of them all and put together all your suppers at once. So... our freezer is now stocked with marinated chicken, pork, creamed chicken, chicken enchiladas, beef stroganoff, spaghetti sauce, salisbury steaks, meatloaf, chicken fingers and a few other goodies. This is the first time we've done this... it's all in my effort to make more time for ministry while still allowing plenty of quality time with the boys and JB. If you're interested there is tons of stuff available on the web about once-a-month-cooking (OAMC) and freezer cooking.
Have a wonderful weekend. Oh...for all of you who have been asking- my friend Kelly didn't have surgery last Friday- turns out they pushed it back to yesterday (Thursday). I don't know any details about the outcome yet- but thanks for continuing to pray :)
Blessings!
