Here's a little recap of life the last several days- hopefully this won't be a small novel! hehe.
JB and I have been gone quite a bit lately- leaving the boys with babysitters (going to small group, going to Terry's last volleyball game, studying, etc.) G, especially has been having a very hard time. I think being in childcare for so long everyday at Forum took a toll on him and he was really craving quality time with mom and dad. So much so he had 2 of our sitters in tears b/c he didn't want them around and was completely disobedient, etc. So- we decided enough was enough and took a few 'family/vacation days' to spend some uninterrupted quality time with the boys. Saturday night we made pizza and had a 'movie night' (we get out the projector and have a picnic on the living room floor while we watch a movie)- we watched Toy Story (speaking of...if anyone has a DVD copy of Toy Story that they no longer want- we would gladly take it off your hands- the copy we have is terrible and we have looked high and low for it in English here and can't find it). Sunday we celebrated Easter- This Sunday is actually Easter here- but we will be so busy with our Easter outreach that we wouldn't have time to celebrate as a family- so we did it early. We colored eggs on Saturday, Sunday morning the boys had baskets, an egg hunt and we enjoyed a great meal together. We had invited a few other friends- but no one could come- so we enjoyed the time together to talk about why we celebrate Easter. BTW- Gavin is infatuated with 'resurrection eggs' (a dozen eggs w/ figures inside to tell the Easter story)- he thinks they're the greatest thing ever! We spent quite a bit of time outside on Sunday b/c the weather was beautiful! Took the boys to a really nice park to play and took a walk together as a family in the evening- and - brace yourselves- big news: we saw our first flower of spring! A really sad daffodil growing in front of an apt building! But it was a real live flower growing out of the newly defrosted ground! All in all it means that spring will soon be here! Hard to believe when there aren't even buds on the trees yet and the grass is still brown from all the snow. Monday we headed to the mall to try to find G some pants that fit him and a few tshirts- he's gone through a growth spurt lately and just shot up like a weed- so much so that we didn't have any clothes for him! We managed to find some decently priced pants and a few shirts. And of course- Gavin got to play on the indoor playground! He couldn't have been happier!
I have to say- I am so proud of all my boys! JB has ran his first 3k today! He's been running for awhile now- but finally hit 3k today! Gavin is finally ALL potty trained- day and night! So proud of him... and he's not even 3 yet! Can't believe his birthday is less than a week away! Carter is growing like a weed! He's crawling at hyper speed and pulling himself up on everything he can get a grip on! He has 6 teeth now and is still bubbling over with joy and smiles. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful bunch of boys in my life. I love them so much!
Gavin has been having a ball with a play kitchen that we inherited from our Canadian friends- all day long his is 'cooking food' and 'washing' dishes! Also, he's been trying to ride his train ride on toy that we had lent to friends. He's 20lbs too big for it! We keep telling him that the train is too small (as opposed to him being too big)- b/c he hears that a lot. People are always trying to get him to do so much more than he is able b/c they don't realize he is so young. Everyone always assumes that he is 4 or 5. People expect him to act like his size rather than his age. We want him to be confident in who God made him- special tall or short! Today, Gavin tried to fit one of his Thomas trains in the wagon of another bigger Fisher Price train- Henry wouldn't fit in the wagon- Gavin took Henry, looked him right in the eye and said "Sorry... you're too big."!
